How to play

Insomnidle is a daily trivia game, like Wordle, with two differences: the questions are brutally obscure, and it's only open from 2:00 to 4:00am, your local time. The rest of the day it tells you to go to bed.

A night

Play several nights in a row to build a streak.

The questions

Every question is generated from Wikidata, the open database behind Wikipedia: who directed a film, who composed an opera, the year of a battle, where a river ends, which country owns an island, where a language is spoken. Obscurity is measured by how many Wikipedias cover the subject, so each question is hard but has a real article behind it. The wrong answers are chosen to be plausible: composers of the same nationality, nearby years, neighbouring countries.

Every night's questions and answers go up under Past nights once the window has closed in every timezone.

Why 2am?

Because if you're awake at 2am anyway, you might as well feel stupid about operas you've never heard of. Changing your device's timezone to play at a reasonable hour works. You've earned it.
